Pietro Fiorentini enters the Brazilian biomethane market: 3Di Biogás joins the Group

10 March 2025  -  Corporate

Thanks to the recent acquisition of the majority share of 3Di Biogás, Pietro Fiorentini has entered the renewable energy market of Brazil and South America.

Located in Foz de Iguaçu, in the Brazilian state of Paraná, 3Di Biogás was the first company to introduce membrane technology-based solutions for biogas purification plants. In the 10 years of the company, the founders Lucio Ricken and Maycon Savoldi have collaborated with important clients in the Latin American agribusiness industry by supplying them with energy-as-a-service biogas purification plants: 3Di Biogás supplies, operates and maintains plants to treat biogas obtained from organic waste from production processes to produce and sell biomethane to use it in the same plants.

The businesses are divided into 3Di Engenharia and Pure Tech Energy in Brazil, and Bioenergy in Paraguay. Pietro Fiorentini acquired the majority share.

In this process, Pietro Fiorentini was assisted by Graziano Messana, managing director of GM Venture, and by the Baker Tilly team led by Graziela Baffa, and Antonio Villa Berkemeyer of Berkemeyer; 3Di Biogás was assisted by Fabio Inocencio and Monroe Olsen of REDE CNM.

As industrial partner, Pietro Fiorentini will provide know-how and engineering capacity to further strengthen the position of 3Di Biogás in the South American market by providing biogas upgrading plants of higher production capacity including technology for the fiscal measurement and injection of biomethane into the grid or liquefaction of biomethane and CO2.

Agriculture, sugarcane ethanol production and animal husbandry are sectors of primary importance to the Brazilian economy. Together with the agribusiness industry, they generate organic waste that can be used for biogas production and valorization into biomethane. With this new step, Pietro Fiorentini reinforces its presence in South America, contributing to the production of clean energy with solutions entirely designed and built in Brazil with the widespread support of local service. This operation fits coherently into the local for local strategy that the company has been pursuing for years, focusing on direct and specialized support in the markets in which it operates.
